According to the 2011 census, the taluk of Chengalpattu had a population of 571254 with 288411 males and 282843 females. There were 981 women for every 1000 men. The taluk had a literacy rate of 77.56. Child population in the age group below 6 was 29492 Males and 28476 Females.
According to 2011 census, Chengalpattu had a population of 62,579 with a sex-ratio of 1,020 females for every 1,000 males, much above the national average of 929.
