India’s First 24×7 Emergency FM Radio Station (107.8MHz) Launched in Flood-Hit Cuddalore


The emergency fm radio station which has been put up in Cuddalore. Auroville Radio is continuing to work alongside the several other teams involved in this task. It is actually the 1st time in India that people have managed to get a special permission to run an emergency fm radio station. Emergency FM radio station in Cuddalore emits on 107.8 Mhz, and it can be reached on 0414 231888. Its target is to inform the community, and especially the still stranded people in flooded houses. It is the fact that radio in such disaster, when everything else fail, is the most efficient tool of communication.

A Disaster Management Action Group has been formed, and 11 villages from the Auroville Bioregion that have been most severely affected have been adopted as priority. – Anumandai – Vandipalyam – Nadukkupam – Devikulam – Urani – Arathikuppam – Poothurai – Eachengadu – Thailapuram – Kodur – Pulichapalam
